The symposium will feature renowned scientists and thinkers from around that country discussing and synthesizing Dr. Goodman's contributions to the various fields in which he worked, including marine mammal and fisheries managment, ecosystem modeling, Endangered Species Act policy, and hazardous materials and environmental monitoring. Speakers will also discuss Dr. Goodman's use of population viability analysis, Bayesian statistics, and risk assessment in the context of ecological and environmental decision-making, focusing especially on the lessons that can be drawn from Dr. Goodman's work to improve ecological decision-making and management.
The symposium is being planned as part of the Year of Engaged Leadership at Montana State University and is sponsored in part by the College of Letters and Science and the departments of Ecology and Mathematical Sciences.
