Portrait of a Community: Oxford, Iowa

The Oxford Project began in 1984 when artist Peter Feldstein set out to photograph every single resident of his town, Oxford, Iowa (pop. 676). Twenty years later, Feldstein did it again, re-photographing as many of the original residents as he could locate. Some had moved. Most had stayed. Others had passed away. All were marked by the passage of time.

Portrait of a Community: Oxford, Iowa is part the 2014 President's Fine Art Series:  Art Matters a series of artistic and cultural events to celebrate the transformational power of the arts.

The President's Fine Art Series is brought to you by the Montana State University Office of the President and the College of Arts & Architecture.  This project is also funded in part by a grant from Humanities Montana, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
