Montana Shakespeare in the Schools Tour "Macbeth"

Montana Shakespeare in the Schools to perform "Macbeth"in schools in the region during its 2012 fall tour.

Celebrating its 20th season with this production, Montana Shakespeare in the Schools will perform Shakespeare's wickedly suspenseful Macbeth to nearly 12,000 students in communities throughout Montana and Wyoming as a part of its annual fall tour, which begins October 12th. The 10-week tour is the first of two educational outreach programs being offered by Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, which is based at MontanaStateUniversity, during this academic year.  The fall tour will conclude in late-December.

"Macbeth"is the Bard's most concise and brutal tragedy.  Its title character is a charismatic warrior who, at the urging of his ambition, his beloved wife and some prophesying witches, murders his way to kingship and 'dusty death'. "Macbeth"features some of the most memorable and oft-quoted lines from Shakespeare, including ""Out, damned spot!," "Double, double, toil and trouble," Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow..."  "By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes . . ," and "Fair is foul and foul is fair."   The production is trimmed to 75 minutes and features resident designer Tom Watson's dynamic set which is evocative of popular graphic novel art.  Costume designer Claudia Boddy returns again this season bring exciting Gothic-Celtic creations to stage.
