Facility Services releases Irrigation Winterization/Blow Out schedule

On Monday, October 1,, the non-potable water supply used for irrigating the campus will be turned off. Beginning Monday, October 3, and continuing through Friday, October 5, the entire system will be "blown out" removing the water from the pipes to prevent freeze damage. The work will begin about 7 a.m. each morning and continue through dusk. The process uses compressed air to displace the water. Each of the more than 1000 zones will be activated in turn. Observers will notice first water, then mist, and then air emanating from individual sprinkler heads and there is some noise associated with this process. All these conditions are normal. Facility Services Grounds department staff will be monitoring each zone as the process unfolds. Questions and comments should be directed to E.J. Hook, Environmental Services manager at Edward.hook1@montana.edu
