Safe Zone Workshop

Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Strand Union Building, Room 233, United States

A Safe Zone workshop will be offered Thursday, October 17th from 3:00-5:00 p.m. in SUB 233.

Interested in learning more about LGBTQ issues and potentially becoming part of an ally network for LGBTQ students at MSU? Safe Zone is a program that appears on campuses across the nation to build awareness and support of LGBTQIQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and questioning) individuals. The workshop will educate and raise awareness on LGBTQIQ issues and provide training, resources and tips for being an ally. The Safe Zone program offers trainings each semester to help educate our community and promote an inclusive campus environment.

Safe Zone Allies display a Safe Zone placard to identify themselves as someone who has chosen to educate her/himself about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender issues and has information about local resources, and have been through Safe Zone training. These symbols indicate safe and welcoming places on campus for members of the LGBTQ community.
