This year's workshop, titled Montana's American Indian Poets Share, will highlight the poetry included in the teaching collection, Birthright: Born to Poetry--A Collection of Montana Indian Poetry. Featured speakers include: Moderator Dorothea Susag, Heather Cahoon (Pend d'Oreille), Victor Charlo (Salish), Jennifer Greene (Salish/Chippewa-Cree), Dr. Richard Littlebear (Northeren Cheyenne), Dr. Joseph McGeshick (Chippewa/Assiniboine/Sioux), M.L. Smoker (Assiniboine), and Lois Welch (Reading for James Welch-Blackfeet/Grow Ventre).
Come learn about the people and places that have inspired these poets and provided them with the wisdom and cleverness to uncover universal and local associations and broaden your knowledge of the unique cultural heritages and histories of Montana American Indians as we are charged to do through the1972 Montana Constitutional Mandate, Article X, Section 1(2).
No RSVP necessary, but if you have questions, contact Jioanna Carjuzaa at firstname.lastname@example.org or 994-4941.
