Come and learn the intoxicating rhythms and dances of West Africa. Drumming and dance are both proven reduce stress and increase happiness!
Join the West African Drum and Dance club at MSU for our weekly drum and dance classes! The drum class is from 7 to 8 pm and the dance class from 8 to 9 pm.
You'll not only learn the rhythms and dances, but also the cultural context behind them. Guaranteed to be a joyous and energizing experience. See you there!
Raymond Burket and Kelly Ann Brown have been studying and teaching and peforming West African drum and dance respectively for over 15 years. They have both studied extensively both nationally and in West Africa with some of the foremost practicioners from Guinea and Mali including drummers Mamady Keita and Famoudou Konate and dancers Moustapha Bangoura and Youssef Koumbassa.
