Lecture: The Robben Island Bible with Matthew Hahn

Playwright Matthew Hahn will discuss the research and development of his first play, The Robben Island Bible. This play is based upon underlined passages in a copy of the collected works of William Shakespeare, shared among 33 prisoners on Robben Island, including Nelson Mandela. Mr. Hahn also interviewed several of the men, and will share his insights with the audience. The Robben Island Bible, has been performed at the Southbank Centre, British Museum and at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C.  In April, the play will open the conference '1994-2014: 20 Years of South African Democracy' at the University of Oxford.  This lecture is free and open to the public.  Wednesday, April 16th 3:00 PM in Leon Johnson Hall 339.
