MSU Alert Notification Mechanisms
Following last Wednesday's campus ALERT situation, we have received inquiries about how to subscribe to MSU's ALERT notification system. MSU ALERT consists of these two notification mechanisms.
- The MSU ALERT E-MAIL component which delivers messages to all students, faculty and staff at MSU Bozeman. All students, faculty and staff are automatically enrolled in the MSU ALERT E-MAIL system - therefore, no action is required to receive email messages at your MSU email address through this mechanism. The MSU ALERT E-MAIL component is used to deliver important non-emergency, safety and security information, in addition to information about campus emergencies.
- The MSU ALERT TEXT Messaging component is a voluntary (opt-in) system that delivers text messages about emergencies posing an immediate threat to the campus community to those who have chosen to enroll in this voluntary text messaging system.
Enrollment in the MSU ALERT TEXT MESSAGING component is voluntary and all students, faculty and staff are strongly encouraged to enroll. The MSU ALERT TEXT MESSAGING component is free and is used to deliver critical information about situations posing an immediate threat to MSU students, faculty and staff in the event of an emergency. To subscribe, to go: www.montana.edu/msualert. You can also enroll by texting 69310 with the following message: msu alert (You will receive a confirmation text as a reply.)
If you do not enroll in the MSU ALERT TEXT Messaging component, you will not receive MSU ALERT TEXT Messages during a campus emergency situation.
(The MSU ALERT TEXT Messaging component of the notification system is currently contracted through Inspiron Logistics, a worldwide provider of emergency notification systems.)
