Safe Zone Module 2 Workshop: Ally Development
Strand Union Building, Room 168
A Safe Zone Module 2 Workshop will be offered Wednesday, October 29th from 4:00-5:00 p.m.
Interested in learning more about LGBTQ issues and potentially becoming part of an ally network for LGBTQ students at MSU? Safe Zone is a program that appears on campuses across the nation to build awareness and support of LGBTQIQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and questioning) individuals. The Safe Zone program offers trainings each semester to help educate our community and promote an inclusive campus environment.
Safe Zone Module 2: Ally Development (prerequisite: completion of Module 1)
The Ally Development workshop focuses on expanding the network of LGBTQIQ allies at Montana State University. Participants learn what it means to be an ally, techniques for being an advocate, and unpacking heterosexism. Safe Zone Allies display Safe Zone placards to identify themselves as individuals who have participated in the Safe Zone Training program and have chosen to educate themselves about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender issues. These symbols indicate safe and welcoming places on campus for members of the LGBTQ community.
