Our book this semester is Assignments Across the Curriculum: A National Study of College Writing by Dan Melzer. We will meet two Tuesdays 1/27 and 2/10 from 12:30 - 1:30p.m.
These sessions are for those interested in thinking and conversing about how to teach writing in their classes, and discussing curriculum that encourages the development of student writing. This is for those who know that a curriculum should include the development of writers and communicators and who want to be participants in the joint efforts to develop such a program at MSU.
Michelle LaFrance, a presenter at one of the Center's workshops last year and a leading scholar in Writing Across the Curriculum from George Mason University, highly recommended this book.
There will be an optional third session on 3/3 for people who want to bring examples of new or revised writing assignments for their courses to share and receive feedback. People who attend the third session and bring at least three new or revised assignments will be able to go on a shopping spree at the MSU bookstore! Details to be announced!
RSVP at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Book-AssignmentsAcross, and we will contact you about picking up your book. Space is limited, so sign up soon. Register by noon, Wednesday, January 21. Registration could close before this date because of limited space. A light lunch will be served beginning at 12:15 p.m.
