When one thinks of academic dishonesty, often what comes to mind is plagiarism. In the age of the Internet, how do those of us teaching address what seems to us to be increasing amounts of plagiarism? In this workshop, will discuss plagiarism as an ethical concern, but also as a pedagogical concern. Why are students plagiarizing more, or are they? What steps can you take to teach ethical and proper source usage? How can tools like Turnitin be used as a teaching tool rather than a policing tool? And how might our assignment design encourage students not to plagiarize?
