27th Annual MSU Bug Buffet
- Friday, February 27, 2015 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm
- Plant Growth Center - view map
Join the conversation on food security and sustainable food production at the 27th Annual MSU Bug Buffet, with unique food provided by MSU catering. We invite you to challenge the numbers: 1 hectare of U.S. ranch land supports 100kg of beef, but can support 907kg or 1 ton of insects without the high levels of greenhouse gas production and soil/water acidification. Worldwide, there are 1,900 species of insects documented being used for food.
Pat Crowley, Entrepreneur-in-Residence for the Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship, will conclude his week at MSU with brief keynote words at 1pm. Pat has taken his passions for caring for the environment and personal health and created a company that integrates insect protein into Chapul Cricket Bars.
Additional activities with this year's Bug Buffet includes poster sessions by MSU students.
Have a taste of the sustainable future! Bug appétit!
