Sack Lunch Seminar: Four Generations of Intrepid Women
- Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 12:05pm to 1:00pm
- Strand Union Building - view map
Join poet, writer, grassroots organizer, and supporter of the arts, Jo Anne Salisbury Troxel, for this wonderful presentation focusing on a bit of her family's herstory. This seminar will begin with a short slide presentation about Marie Chapman Hansen (the presenter's mother...) a respectable married woman, who defied the rigid mores of the 1920's by having an affair with the local sheriff, also a married man. She became socially classless, and she was disowned by her family. The results of her actions reverberated throughout the town, and through four generations of women in her family. The talk, and discussion to follow, will focus on changing times, changing mores, and the role of women through four generations, concluding with the present.
