Spring Orser Executive Speakers Forum

The Jake Jabs College of Business & Entrepreneurship is pleased to announce its spring Orser speaker, the Hon. Marty McVey. His presentation, "Entrepreneurship and International Development" will take place on Thursday, April 9 from 3:30-4:30 in Reid Hall 108, on the MSU campus.
At the event, McVey is expected to discuss successful and unsuccessful domestic entrepreneurship, as well as the significant role of U.S. foreign policy in international entrepreneurship.
McVey is an accomplished businessman and public servant with more than 15 years of experience in international development, new business development and issues of social justice. He is president of Houston, Texas-based McVey & Associates, LLC, a private equity firm specializing in energy, healthcare and real estate investments. He is also a candidate for mayor of the city of Houston.
In 2011, President Barack Obama appointed McVey to serve as a director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Board for International Food and Agricultural Development (BIFAD). MSU President Waded Cruzado also serves on the board. McVey’s work with USAID includes providing guidance to the federal government on investments in training, research and technology transfer to developing countries. He has served as chairman for the BIFAD Haitian Reconstruction Task Force and is chairman of the Budget Committee.
McVey has degrees from American University, Georgetown University and ESADE University. He completed Harvard Business School's "Developing Future Leaders" program.
The MSU JJCBE's David Orser Executive Speakers Forum is named for David B. Orser, a 1966 MSU graduate who started funding the program in 1988 in order to inspire MSU business students to pursue careers as innovative, responsible, and ethical business leaders.
