The Montana State University School of Music is pleased to present a free concert featuring the University concert band and the Jazz Workshop Band on Wednesday, April 15 at 7:30 PM in Reynolds Recital Hall. In celebration of the end of tax season, audience members will enjoy hearing a wide variety of music including jazz, contemporary, classical, and pop, performed by university students.
Parking at MSU is free on evenings after 6:00pm. The concert is free and open to the public. Seating is first-come-first-served starting at 7:00pm.
The University Band is conducted by Dr. Nathan Stark, who also directs the “Spirit of the West” Marching Band. The group is a campus-wide ensemble open to all students as well as members of the campus community. The group rehearses three times a week to prepare for performances, which feature the most popular (and fun) music in the concert band repertoire.
The MSU Jazz “Workshop” Band is a big-band that provides an opportunity for musicians of all abilities to become involved with jazz. Working with one of Montana’s premiere jazz performers, the members quickly gain skills in jazz style and improvisation. The Jazz Workshop is directed by Ryan “Montana” Matzinger, and rehearses twice a week throughout the school year.
Free and open to the public
