Join the Center for Biofilm Engineering and the Departments of Microbiology & Immunology and Land Resources & Environmental Sciences as they host two colleagues from the Mine Water and Environment Research Centre (MiWER) at Edith Cowan University in Western Perth, Australia.
"Environmental assessment using microbes: Challenges and opportunities for Australian river ecologists"
Dr. Melanie L. Blanchette
Dr. Blanchette is a postdoctoral research fellow at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Western Australia. She also serves as a researcher at the Mine Water and Environment Research Centre (MiWER), located at Edith Cowan University. MiWER is an international team of highly qualified professional scientists with skills in ecology, environmental chemistry, microbial ecology, and sustainability: all with an interest in mine water. See Dr. Blanchette's web site for more info at http://miwer.org/people/people_mb.html
"Impacts of a drying climate on management of urban wetlands"
Dr. Mark Lund
Dr. Lund is an associate professor in environmental management at Edith Cowan University. He is also a principal investigator at MiWER. Dr. Lund’s research interests are in applied aquatic ecology, with a focus on chemistry. He is interested in mine pit lakes, everything from remediation of acid mine drainage, through to the establishment and encouragement of biological communities and issues around their closure. See Dr. Lund's web site for more info at http://www.ecu.edu.au/schools/natural-sciences/staff/profiles/associate-professors/associate-professor-mark-lund
