The Montana State University Football Team invites Bozeman students and community members to “Get In The Game and Save A Life.” A Marrow Donor Registry Drive and Fundraising Event will be held on campus from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on April 23, 2015. The drive will be held in Ballrooms B and C, located inside the Strand Union Building, on Grant Street just west of 7th Avenue. Bobcat football players will be assisting Be The Match® in distributing information about marrow and stem cell donation, receiving financial contributions, and adding potential donors to the Be The Match Registry®. The MSU Football Team encourages all local community members and students between 18 and 44 years old to join the Be The Match Registry®, increasing the likelihood that every patient needing a transplant will be able to find the donor they need. They hope to add over 100 new people to the Be The Match Registry® on April 23.
Registration is simple, and involves completing a brief health history form and providing a DNA sample with a few quick cheek swabs. To join the registry at this event, a person must be between the ages of 18 and 44, meet the health guidelines and be willing to donate to any patient in need. There is no cost to join the Be The Match Registry®, and individuals will remain a member of the registry until their 61st birthday. If one is called upon as a match, about 75% of transplants are currently done through peripheral blood stem cell (PBSC) donation – no surgery needed.
Free for those between 18-44
