October is National LGBTQ History Month!
Montana State University’s Diversity Awareness Office (DAO), Queer-Straight Alliance (QSA) and Women’s Center will join together to present a panel discussion and interactive display about LGBTQ Life at MSU on Wednesday, October 28th at 5:30 p.m. in SUB 233.
National studies have shown campus climates across the U.S. are less than warm for LGBTQ students, faculty and staff. In 2014, the Diversity Awareness Office conducted a campus-wide study on the climate for different student populations. Results of the study illustrated challenges that LGBTQ students face at MSU and highlighted some areas that need improvement. A selection of the findings from this MSU survey will be presented by the Diversity Awareness Office, and a panel of LGBTQ students will discuss their personal experiences at MSU. We will also offer an opportunity for MSU and community members to brainstorm possible solutions to some of the challenges presented by both the survey and individuals. Join us for this educational look into being LGBTQ at Montana State University.
