MASS Design Group, an international architecture firm based in Boston, MA and Kigali, Rwanda, will be visiting the MSU campus on October 26th to participate in several meetings during the day and will present their lecture, Beyond the Building. By being an example of designers rethinking their role in architecture, MASS hopes to improve the lives of people throughout the world. Their work in the US and internationally focuses on leveraging architecture, as well as the design and construction processes, to become engines for better health, economic growth, and long-term sustainability. By designing solutions with people rather than for them, MASS has learned the value of thoughtful, inclusive design and seen that a creative and human-centered approach can improve the lives of the poor. MASS's model of impact hinges on community engagement at every phase of design and construction.
