Intro to Avalanches Workshop: Join the Outdoor Rec Program in Preparing for the Spring Semester Snow Intro To Avalanches Workshop on campus, 2 classroom sessions & field day

The Friends of GNFAC and ASMSU Outdoor Rec are sponsoring this course.The lectures will be held on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Students may choose either a Saturday or Sunday Field Session when they register.
The Outdoor Recreation Program has backcountry rentals available: such as AT ski package, beacons, shovels, probes, splitboards, snowshoes and more.
PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED
Different topics are presented each evening. Topics include: avalanche terrain recognition, the affect weather has on avalanche hazard, the development of the mountain snowpack, decision making skills, and basic search and rescue procedures.
Participants in the field course should have basic skiing and snowboarding skills with the appropriate equipment to negotiate “groomed” intermediate ski runs. Please bring skins or snowshoes for uphill travel. Although not required, an avalanche rescue beacon, shovel and probe will be very helpful for the field session.
You MUST attend both classroom sessions to attend a field session.
Wednesday and Thurs, 7-9:30 p.m. (session location TBD, will be on campus)
During registration you can choose either Saturday or Sunday for your field session. They are both held at Bridger Bowl, 9:15 a.m - 3:00 p.m.
