In this full-day workshop, participants will learn effective strategies for successful grant writing and leave with new ideas and actual writing samples that can be incorpo- rated in their next grant proposal.
1. The Logic Model
• What is it and why do you need it?
2. Prospect Research
• How do you know who to ask and how much to ask them for?
How to identify a prospect
How to qualify a prospect
3. Grant Writing
• How do you present your case and package your proposal?
Making your case for support: using stories and statistics effectively
Goals, objectives and outcomes: what’s the difference and how do you write them?
Evaluation plan: measuring the funder’s ROI
Pre-submission: getting your grant proposal
ready to send
• Actions to take when you get the grant (and what to do if you don’t)
Participants will also receive a voucher valid for a free proposal critique. (valid for 60 days after the workshop).
FOCUS AREA: Foundation grants.
TARGET AUDIENCE: Nonprofit staff and volunteers.
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Beginners and advanced beginners. (Beginner = Has never written a grant proposal. Advanced Beginner = Has written a few grants with marginal or no success.)
Instructor: Laura Rhodes, Certified Grant Writer | Nonprofit Funding Consultant
Laura Rhodes is the principal at Third Sector Consulting, a boutique nonprofit consulting firm based in Bozeman with offices in Charleston, SC.
Laura specializes in prospect research as well as grant writing support for organizations that want to write their own grants. She also leads workshops, webinars, retreats and fundraising training for nonprofit staff and boards.
She has more than 15 years of experience in philanthropy, fundraising and nonprofit development. She has worked on staff and also served as a board member for numerous nonprofit organizations. Prior starting her consulting business, Laura was a program officer with the American Express Foundation.
Having been both a grantmaker and a fundraiser, Laura uses her unique perspective to help nonprofits find more funders, win more grants and raise more money for their cause.
