On Thursday, February 16th, 2017, the Department of Earth Sciences will host Dr. Celestine Mercer's presentation, "Magmas, Metals, and Meteorites" during the weekly Earth Science Seminar. Please join us for this presentation.
Below is a summary from Dr. Mercer about her presentation:
"Strategic metals provide the foundation for modern civilization. Magmas are an important source of many of these metals here on Earth, and in the future asteroids may be an important source as society reaches farther out into space. We will take a brief tour of the geologic environments in which we find magmatic-sourced strategic metals and then dive into understanding the evolution of the world-famous Henderson molybdenum deposit."
