Honorary doctorate nominations due April 27
MSU's honorary doctorate committee is accepting nominations from faculty and others for qualified honorary degree recipients.
This is a special call for nominations and is designed to increase the number of nomination submissions. Individual/s who are selected to receive an honorary degree will be awarded the degree at MSU's Fall Commencement in December 2017.
To be considered for an honorary degree from MSU, individuals must:
*Have an association with MSU and/or the State of Montana by virtue of birth, education or direct contribution to the well-being of the state's citizens.
*Have distinguished themselves in such a manner, and at such a level, as to have won recognition in their respective areas of endeavor at the state, regional or national levels.
*Will reflect favorably on MSU, the Montana University System, and the State of Montana.
While praiseworthy, long tenure in a position, personal durability and above average service do not equate with merit as conceived in these criteria. The renown of the candidates should reflect favorably on MSU and Montana. While most honorary degrees are rightfully conferred in acknowledgment of a full and distinguished career, some honorary degrees may also be conferred on distinguished young achievers.
Nominations are due Thursday, April 27. To nominate an individual for an honorary degree, submit a letter of nomination and supporting materials via email or mail to:
Assistant to the President
Montana State University
211 Montana Hall
