DEAL is seeking applications from MSU's aspiring academic leaders for the 2017-18 training program.
MSU's Developing Excellence in Academic Leadership (DEAL) program invites applications from MSU's current and future leaders for the 2017-18 program.
DEAL encourages best practices and collegial development among MSU's current and future academic leaders through highly interactive monthly workshops that allow participants to explore a variety of substantive topics and create personal networks across disciplines and units at MSU. Session topics vary by year, but typically include such subjects as leadership theories and skills, conflict management, collaboration and teamwork, and managing your career, all in the specific context of MSU. In addition, DEAL helps participants develop relationships with colleagues across campus in order to become more effective campus leaders.
DEAL is designed for MSU department heads/chairs, assistant/associate deans, directors, and those who aspire to such levels of leadership. Each year's cohort consists of approximately 20-30 participants from a wide range of academic and administrative units. Founded in 2009 and supported by the President's Office, Provost's Office and the Center for Faculty Excellence, DEAL now boasts over 120 alumni.
In AY 2017-18, sessions will meet on Wednesdays from 2:30-5:00 pm on September 20, October 18 and November 15, 2017; and January 17, February 21, March 21 and April 18, 2018.
Applications and more information are available at http://www.montana.edu/facultyexcellence/deal/. The application deadline is April 14, 2017.
