MSU’s spring choral concert will feature a wide variety of songs that lovers of choral music are sure to enjoy.
The performance will take place in Reynolds Recital Hall beginning at 7:30PM on Monday, April 24th. The MSU Chorale will perform choral favorites by American composers Paul Basler, Jake Runestad, Dale Grotenhuis, and Shawn Kirchner. Minnesota composer Jake Runestad was commissioned to write a song to commemorate the centennial anniversary of our National Parks. Runestad chose poetry of naturalist John Muir who explored the Sierra Nevada mountain range around the turn of the 20th century.
The Montanans will perform Sven-David Sandström’s Four Songs of Love, along with a piece they learned from the Grammy-Award winning group Roomful of Teeth when they visited campus this past January.
The University Chorus, under the direction of Jon Harney, will perform Mozart's Laudate Dominum with soloist Alethia Heidi, Come to Me by Matthew Emery, the Handel coronation anthem The King Shall Rejoice and selections by Stroope, William Hawley and close with the spiritual Keep Your Lamps! arranged by Andre Thomas.
Admission is $10 for adults, and $5 for students. Tickets available at the door.
