Bicycle Regulation Enforcement
Starting on September 18th at 7:00 a.m. and ending on September 22nd at 5:00 p.m. MSU Parking Services and Facilities Services will be conducting a removal of improperly parked bicycles. The university has a Bicycle Regulation. Referenced on the Parking Services web page, this regulation calls out appropriate and inappropriate bicycle parking scenarios. For instance, bicycles shall not be parked on railings, trees, light posts, or ADA handicap ramps. During the week prior to September 18th bike owners who are non-compliant with the regulations will be made aware of the removal activity by the placement of informational yellow tags on their bicycles.
Parking Services and Facilities Services kindly asks that bicyclists use existing bike racks to park their bikes. To prevent theft, properly lock bikes to racks using a durable lock. Statistically, unlocked bikes are those that are most often stolen.
In the event that you find your bike has been removed from the location you parked it in, you can contact Parking Services at 406-994-7943 to retrieve your bike. The MSU Bicycle Regulations can be found at http://www.montana.edu/parking/bicycles.
