Center for Biofilm Engineering Fall 2017 Seminar Series Presents a Seminar with Dr. Tammy Kielian

Dr. Tammy Kielian is the Choudari Kommineni, DVM, PhD Professor of Pathology in the Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. She will be presenting “Hiding in plain sight: How Staphylococcus aureus biofilms trigger innate immune cell dysfunction,” at this week's CBE seminar.
Dr. Kielian earned her PhD in microbiology at the University of Kansas Medical Center and was a postdoctoral fellow at Dartmouth Medical School. She is currently working on several projects with juvenile Batten disease, including gene therapy, inflammation and cell-signaling, in addition to her work on Staphylococcal biofilms and disease. Her talk will focus on Staphylococcus aureus biofilm infection and interaction with immune cells.
