The choirs at Montana State University will give their first performance of the 2017-2018 season on Tuesday, October 17 in Reynolds Recital Hall beginning at 7:30. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
The University Chorus will sing one of William Hawley’s compositions Siepe, che gli orti vaghi which is a modern take on the madrigal as well as Victoria’s Sanctus and Benedictus and will conclude their set with an uplifting new choral arrangement by Zachary Moore titled Huti te Rito which celebrates the traditional chant of the Māori tribes of northern New Zealand.
The Montanans will sing a new setting of the “Ave Maria” text by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins along with a Palestrina motet and a whimsical vocal arrangement of Rossini’s Barber of Seville Overture. Chorale will perform one of Johann Pachelbel’s motets for double choir along with a new work by a thirty-one year old composer from Minnesota, Daniel Elder. All three choirs will combine to sing William Dawson’s “Every Time I Feel the Spirit” to end the evening.
