Dr. Tyler Nygaard is an assistant research professor in MSU’s Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Tyler earned his Ph.D. in immunology and infectious diseases from MSU. He is interested in how S. aureus virulence factor expression influences the interaction of this bacterium with various leukocytes in human blood. His talk “Interaction of Staphylococcus aureus with leukocytes in human blood,” will focus on the ability of S. aureus to evade complement receptor mediated binding by B cells and how that might impede an effective adaptive immune response in humans.
