Islam is one of the most misunderstood religion in the world. It is practiced by over 1.6 billion followers; almost every country in the world has some Muslims. Contrary to the popular belief only 20% of its adherents are Arabs. Indonesia is the largest Muslim country followed by India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. This course will focus on the topics like how Islam was spread and is being practiced in various parts of the world, how Islam treats women, Sharia and what we need to know about it, and finally why is Islamophobia so widespread and how it affects everyone not just Muslims.This four week course meets Thursdays 3:30pm to 5:30pm, Jan. 18 through Feb. 8, 2018.
$50 for MSU Wonderlust members or $85 for non-members (membership costs $35)
