Academic Advising Workshop with the Dean of Students

Following up the February Advising Workshop, The Academic Advising Center hosts Dr. Matt Caires for further discussion about policies and practices enacted by the Dean of Students. Attendees will learn more about how the major historic milestones in higher education have shaped MSU policies and practices today. Some of these milestones include the end of In Loco Parentis, the adoption of federal laws like FERPA, the Clery Act and Title IX, and various university crises such as the shooting at Virginia Tech and the child abuse scandal at Penn State.
