The Diversity and Inclusion Student Commons (DISC) and Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) are looking for members of the MSU community who wish to facilitate Safe Zone trainings on campus throughout this academic year. Safe Zone is a program found on college campuses across the country to promote an ally network for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and questioning (LGBTQIQ) students, faculty, and staff. Facilitators should be familiar with the Safe Zone program and are required to complete a train the trainer workshop prior to facilitating Safe Zone workshops. Trainers are not expected to be experts, but rather people interested in promoting education, acceptance, awareness, and welcoming spaces for LGBTQIQ people.
A train the trainer workshop will be offered on Tuesday, September 18th for anyone interested in becoming a trainer. After completing the training, trainers can facilitate Safe Zone workshops that promote education and awareness to classes, clubs, organizations, departments, and other entities on campus. We are looking for trainers to commit to participating for at least one academic year.
Advance registration strongly encouraged.
