Born in Switzerland, Academy Award nominee Martin Schaer has become one of the most sought after camera operators in Hollywood.
Thirty years in the industry, Schaer's recent projects include David Fincher's Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, Gore Verbinski's Rango as well as all four Pirates of the Carribbean movies. He has had long and enduring working relationships with director Tony Scott and cinematographer Dariusz Wolski. Schaer was a finalist in the 23rd Annual Society of Camera Operators Lifetime Achievement Awards Year in 2009 for Eagle Eye. Martin will talk about the cinematographer's relationship with the director, working on indy productions vs higher budget productions, and how digital effects are changing the industry.
