Steve Stowers will present "GRASPing the neural circuitry of mechanosensory behavior."
Synopsis: My research focuses on understanding how a nervous system translates sensory information from the environment into specific behavioral responses. Specifically, I am trying to understand how the relatively simple nervous system of Drosophila larva translates mechanosensory stimuli into withdrawal behavior. This talk will include a description of the tools I have developed for mapping neural circuitry and their initial application to identify second order neurons of the mechanosensory neural circuit.
