Montana's Oil Boom (a non-credit distance learning course)
Join us for this interactive distance learning class focused on Eastern Montana's oil boom and the increased exploration and development in the Bakken Formation. Is this a major benefit to the nation's energy policy and Montana's economy, or are there environmental and societal concerns that must be addressed?
MSU's Department of Earth Sciences presents this 10-week course. Topics include the geology of eastern Montana, the nature of oil and gas deposits, the technology of exploration and development of oil fields, and the socio-economic impacts of the oil boom in eastern Montana. MSU Earth Sciences students will participate on campus; non-credit students from throughout Montana and beyond are encouraged to participate via live Web conferencing software. This course has no prerequisites and community members are encouraged to join us.
Participate in live time while interacting with the instructors and fellow students, or, enrolled students can access recorded archives of all presentations.
