CANCELLED Solid Finances

Montana Tools for Avoiding Probate

Montana law provides tools that allow for citizens to pass their property at death without a written will or have their property go through the probate process.  During this Solid Finances session Dr. Marsha Goetting will explain the probate process and circumstances under which probate can be avoided on personal property items such as checking and savings account with payable on death designations (PODs).   Mutual funds, stocks and bonds transfer on death designations (TODs) can be used.  For real property beneficiary deeds can be filed with the clerk and recorder in the county where the land is located.  Participants will learn details about these valuable tools and also how to reduce the cost for heirs should probate become necessary on your estate.
