Martin Luther King Jr. Lecture - Chris Stedman

Activist and author Chris Stedman will speak at the annual Montana State University Martin Luther King, Jr., lecture set at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, in the Strand Union Ballroom A.
Stedman will speak about community, social justice, interfaith cooperation and the power of youth activism today.
Stedman, who writes and speaks about interfaith work and community building throughout the country, is the assistant Humanist Chaplain at Harvard University and the Values Action Coordinator for the Humanist Community at Harvard. Previously a content developer and adjunct trainer for the Interfaith Youth Core, Stedman is an atheist working to foster positive and productive dialogue and collaborative action between faith communities and the non-religious. Stedman received a bachelor's degree in religion from Augsburg College and a master's degree in religion from Meadville Lombard Theological School at the University of Chicago, where he was also awarded the Billings Prize for Most Outstanding Scholastic Achievement.
Stedman writes on topics including faith, religion and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues for a variety of blogs and news sources, including the Huffington Post and the Washington Post. He is the former managing director of the "State of Formation" at the Journal of Inter-Religious Dialogue, and the founder of "Non-Prophet Status," the first blog dedicated to exploring atheist-interfaith engagement. His book, "Faitheist: How An Atheist Found Common Ground with the Religions," was published in November.
