Training: Laboratory Safety for Laboratory Workers

Safety and Risk Management is hosting a Laboratory Safety for Laboratory Workers course.  This course examines the Laboratory Standard (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1450), the Hazard Communication Standard (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1200), the Personal Protective Equipment Standard (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.132) hosts discussions regarding Safe Lab Practices, and Waste Disposal.

Class will be held at the Safety and Risk Management building in the 2nd floor training room.  Registration is required and registration can be completed at: http://www.montana.edu/wwwsrm/training/classReg.php

How you will benefit:

At the conclusion of the course, you will be able to:

  • Identify Hazards within laboratory working environments
  • Identify and Understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Understand the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS)
  • Identify signage requirements of hazards
  • Identify and use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment
  • Dispose of Hazardous Waste appropriately
  • Handle and Store Chemicals Safely
  • Assess and Address Laboratory Hazards
  • Identify materials that require specific and additional training

Hazard Communication, Situational Awareness, PPE, Hazardous Waste, Chemical Handling and Storage, Hazard Assessment, Emergencies
