Wonderlust Friday Forum: Education in America -- How does it stack up?
Pilgrim Congregational Church
Wonderlust's Friday Forum series presents MSU Professor Chris Stoddard.
The performance of public K-12 education in the United States has come under increasing scrutiny, in part because of extremely low performance in some areas of the country, especially inner cities. Where do Bozeman and the state of Montana and the United States stand? What about various proposals for reform, including charter schools, tuition vouchers and/or higher pay for teachers?
Professor Stoddard specializes in the economics of education. She has published numerous articles on charter schools, teacher pay and the performance of disadvantaged students. She has recently returned from a sabbatical in Merida, Mexico and Fes, Morocco. Her current research examines international educational reforms.
Friday Forums are free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring lunch. Coffee and cookies are provided. For more information about Wonderlust , contact the MSU Office of Continuing Education, 994-6683.
