Hallelujah! School of Music Gala

"Hallelujah! Celebration of Life through Music," will feature combined performances from music students, students from other disciplines and faculty ranging from hot jazz to intimate chamber pieces and short films. The event will be held at Bozeman's Hope Lutheran Church.

The MSU Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Tobin Stewart will be just one of the groups to perform at Hallelujah! Celebration of Life through Music," a benefit for the MSU School of Music to be held April 26 at Hope Lutheran Church in Bozeman. The gala will feature combined performances from music students, students from other disciplines and faculty. The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Bozeman's Hope Lutheran Church. BOZEMAN - "Hallelujah! Celebration of Life through Music," a gala event benefiting the Montana State University School of Music, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 26, at Bozeman's Hope Lutheran Church.

The event will feature combined performances from music students, students from other disciplines and faculty ranging from hot jazz to intimate chamber pieces and short films.

The gala will feature the One O'clock Jazz Band led by Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Ryan Matzinger and the MSU Wind Ensemble led by Nathan Stark. Tobin Stewart will conduct the MSU Symphony Orchestra and Tim Dueppen will lead the Brass Choir.

Julie Cory will direct the MSU Cello Ensemble and Sherry Linnerooth with direct  a performance by the Horn Ensemble. Stephen Versaevel will lead the percussion ensemble. 

Music Technology students of Jason Bolte and Linda Antas will present select short films.

Four choral ensembles also will be featured: MSU Youth Chorale directed by Kristin Harney, Chorale and Montanans directed by Kirk Aamot, and the University Chorale directed by Jon Harney.

Jeremiah Slovarp, an Emmy Award-winning audio engineer and an MSU graduate, will provide sound and light design for the event.

A large orchestra comprised of faculty and students and four choirs will join forces for the grand finale.  

Light hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be served following the performances. 

Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students. Hope Lutheran Church is located near the intersection of Graf Street and South 19th.
