Work on a local trail, meet your neighbors, and make a positive impact in our community!
Start off the school year with service! For the past five years, the Office of Activities and Engagement partners with the Gallatin Valley Land Trust to work on local trail projects. Volunteers rehabilitate portions of our local Main Street to Mountains trail system by resurfacing, pulling noxious weeds, and improving drainage. This event takes place the Sunday before school begins and is a great way to kick off the new school year.
In celebration of the Year of Engaged Leadership, we invite faculty, staff and administration to serve side-by-side on this project with students. We encourage discussions about student's broader goals during their college career to help them grow academically, personally, and professionally.
This year we will be working at the Highland Glenn Nature Preserve just east of the hospital. We will be removing old fencing to make the area more wildlife friendly in addition to rerouting a section of trail and re-treading some of the existing trail.
Join us in the SUB busloop on Sunday, August 25 no later than 8:45am. We provide transportation from the SUB to the work site and back, lunch, and a local trail map. Location to be determined.
