Nominations now open for Health Hero awards from Eat Right Montana and Action for Healthy Kids
Extraordinary things are happening in Montana to improve health through physical activity and nutrition programs, projects, and policies. Individuals and organizations are employing creative solutions that maximize resources in schools, workplaces, and communities to promote healthy choices and behaviors. Eat Right Montana and Action for Healthy Kids would like to recognize those individuals and organizations through the inaugural Health Hero Award. The purpose of the award program is to acknowledge and celebrate the great efforts by those working to promote healthy nutrition and physical activity choices and behaviors to improve the well-being of all Montanans.
Anyone in Montana who works with or knows of these individuals and organizations is encouraged to submit a nomination describing how the nominee made a noteworthy contribution to their organization, community, or the state as a whole. Letters of nomination should include specific activities that warrant the award including: working on a policy, program, project, or promotion to encourage healthy nutrition and physical activities, choices, and behaviors; going beyond the normal requirements of the job; employing a creative or innovative method to overcome a problem; and maximizing limited resources. Policies, programs, projects, or promotions may include but are not limited to: increasing access to healthy food choices or nutrition program participation; alleviating or decreasing hunger in the community; increasing access to physical activity for kids, families, or communities; or advocating for workplace changes to support healthy choices.
The deadline for nomination is Monday, July 10. Eat Right Montana and Action for Healthy Kids will announce the awards in August and present the awards at the Build a Stronger Montana: End Childhood Hunger conference on September 24th in Bozeman.
