The 20th Annual Montana State University Jake Jabs College of Business & Entrepreneurship State Farm Insurance Family Business Day is a day to honor family businesses from across the state. The awards luncheon will feature a keynote speaker, Teresa McKnight, Executive Director of the MSU Innovation Campus. The Family Business Awards will be presented after the keynote.

Keynote Presentation

McKnight's presentation, "You Can, I Can, We Can--We're all in this Together," will address the changing business environment that is shaping the backbone of the global economy. McKnight will discuss the results of working together in order to develop and expand business opportunities--from family-owned businesses to university-related research parks.

About the Keynote

Teresa W. McKnight currently holds the position as executive director of the Montana State University Innovation Campus. She holds 20 years' experience in university-related research parks and technology commercialization. McKnight has extensive experience in university-related research parks, management, administration, marketing, human resources, incubation, business recruitment and development, entrepreneurship, and tech-based economic development.

Prior to coming to Montana State, she held the position as CEO of the South Dakota State University (SDSU) Growth Partnership and Executive Director of the South Dakota State University (SDSU) Innovation Campus, a 125-acre university-related research park - the first of its kind to be constructed in the state of South Dakota. While there, McKnight successfully raised over $32.6 million and broke ground for Wing I and Wing II of the Innovation Center Building as well as the Seed Technology Lab, an adjacent 126-unit housing complex and a speculative building.

McKnight served as acting director of the Utah State University (USU) Innovation Campus, a 173-acre well-established university-related research park in northern Utah prior to SDSU. Under McKnight's direction, she expanded the USU Innovation Campus from 38-acres to 125-acres, constructed 16 buildings totaling more than 550,000 SF, expanding the campus from 28 to 48 companies and employing more than 2100 employees and 980 USU students.

McKnight serves on the Association of University Research Parks (AURP) Board of Directors as the 2nd Vice-President. She also serves on the City of Bozeman Economic Development Council, the State of Montana Science and Technology Council, and the Advisory Board for TechLink.

She holds degrees from Utah State University.
